Japanese Traditional Sweet Red Bean Soup Zenzai

Zenzai is a Japanese sweet made by simmering red beans with sugar.

Zenzai and oshiruko are very similar but different sweets.Zenzai has an adzuki bean shape while oshiruko has no adzuki bean shape but smashed.Zenzai is a traditional Japanese sweet that is popular by everyone. In Japan, baked mochi (sticky rice) is floated and served with salted kelp and it is often served in Japanese cafes and soba restaurants. It is also often made at home for snack break. In Japan you can buy freeze-dried Zenzai that can be easily cooked in a microwave oven.
